Yes, please

Updated: Nov 27, 2022

She turned her can’t in to can and her dreams into plans. We read and here these words often enough they should resonate in out souls.

I was listening to a podcast the other day that said children before they are the age of four here the word “no” 150k times and ”yes“ grossly less that half of that amount. This really hit me and made me wonder how often I say no to my nieces and if I should be saying yes. Yes to making cookies, cupcakes and painting because she has the creative big like her mother and auntie.

My thoughts then go back to my childhood. I don’t remember my mother saying no to me much. I’m not sure if it was because I was the baby or if she saw something in me even then. But I have to thank her for allowing me to be who I was ever at 4 years old. She tells me stories about how I loved to dress myself and even though she didn’t think I matched, she let me be me.

There are so many variables to how we become who we are. I have learned to embrace the process. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I would be a small business owner in a field that is slowly dying. I aim to change that. I’ve started with Sip&Sew events this fall but that is just the beginning. Watch me while I change my world.

While you are out Christmas shopping this weekend, don’t forget all of the small business owners who started with a tiny dream and are fulfilling their lives purpose. Shop small because when you do, they do a little happy dance for your support.
